Some rides make me realise how lucky I am to live so close to the Lake District. This short ride, which takes in the two bridleways either side of Loughrigg Fell was certainly one of those. On a perfect summers evening, the view over Loughrigg Tarn towards the Langdale Pikes was so beautiful, we just had to stop and take it all in. Like wise, when we broke out onto Loughrigg Terrace, high above Grasmere, the evening light shining down on the surrounding fells was a moment to savour.

At only 6 miles, this is a great loop if you only have an hour or so to spare, or could easily be extended towards Elterwater and beyond to make a day ride. This evening however, we kept it short and headed to the Badger Bar in Rydal to finish off the evening with a pint.
