I appreciate the countryside a great deal and enjoy walking and cycling. My main interest is mountain biking and I also enjoy digital photography. I have entered many mountain bike races and competitions across the country and ridden for ‘The Bike Bank’ sponsored team.
In the summer of 2000 I planned and led a team on a 210 mile coast to coast off road mountain bike ride from St Bees to Robin Hoods Bay in 3 days. This enjoyable event helped me develop my leadership skills.
Because I enjoyed the coast to coast so much the first time round, I decided to do it again in summer 2005. This time in a group of two, we took a slightly different route to try out some alternative trails.
In September 2005 I entered the Grizedale Mountain Bike Challenge - a 32 mile endurance race with over 300 competitors taking part. I finished in 64th place after suffering an unfortunate puncture half way round!
