One of the classic ridge walks in the Lakes is the Kentmere Horseshoe, one that both Darren and myself wanted to do. A good full days walk at 13 miles, including 9 summits, it's no stroll in the park, but I was surprised how quickly and easily we gained altitude to the high fells. Darren brought along his black labrador, Bryn for added company and enthusiasm. The ridge between Ill Bell and Froswick was the most breathtaking and the weather gradually improved as the day went on.

At the end of the day, tired feet, but the Hawkshead Brewery were having a beer festival at nearby Staveley, so we retired there to sample a few ales.
